Dorex-M Suture is made of PDO (Polydioxanone, Also Known as PDSII).
It provides wound support for longer period as compared to other synthetic absorbable sutures. It also offers far superior tensile strength and outstanding pliability. Its monofilament structure provides good handling properties and excellent knot security.
Dorex-M suture is non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic and may elicit minimal tissue reaction during the absorption process. It enables smooth passage in tissue and is ideal for internal tissues where a long lasting absorption is required.
Dorex-M sutures are ideal for use in general orthopedic surgery, sub cuticular, gastro intestinal tract, pediatric, cardiovascular, ophthalmic surgery, sheath closure and general surgery.
It has excellent stitching characteristics and after 2 weeks post implantation retains 80% of its original tear strength. After 5 weeks post implantation it still retains 50% and 44% at 8 weeks. Body absorbs the suture by simple hydrolysis within 150 days and up to 180 days from implantation day. Complete absorption is within 180 - 240 days.
